Keeping your Safety
Mats Clean To make sure your safety mats will be in tip-top shape for safety purposes as well as for a long-lasting performance, the safety mat should be well taken care of. By following the tips below, your safety mat should be able to endure much more weathering. In keeping safety mats clean in wet areas, you simply only have to hose down both sides of the mat with warm water. In hosing down your mats regularly, it should be able to stay clean, last to its life span and stay in its desired appearance. For safety mats made for dry areas, the mat should be removed from the area that it usually services to be shaken. Make sure to shake as much dirt as you’re able to from the mat. For heavily-soiled mats, you can flush both sides of the mat with warm water. If you do use water to rinse of the excess dirt, be careful to completely air dry your mats on a flat surface before placing the mats in their proper service area. However, you should also sweep or vacuum the area below and around where the mat is used before replacing the mat in its place. Make sure you check and clean your safety mats periodically. There are basically two easy ways to make sure your safety matting stays in its proper condition. First, you can clean the mat with a high-pressure washer and a light foaming all-purpose cleaner. After doing so, you can rinse the matting with hot water and lay it flat to completely dry before placing it in it’s service area. Another alternative to use if you mat has constant heavy-soiling is to pre-spray the matting with an all-purpose cleaner that produces a light foam. Leave the cleaning solution on the safety mat for 3 to 5 minutes before brushing it with a nylon bristle brush. After a thorough brushing of the matting, rinse the safety mat with hot water and leave the mat on a flat surface to completely air dry. If you’re cleaning a grease mat or matting with a lot of grease buildup, you can use a water-based degreasing cleaner instead to better remove the grease from the safety matting. All in all, you should check your safety mats periodically to make sure they’re being maintained and getting the proper care they need for prolonged use.
