- Intelligent Matting-
An "intelligent mat" is equivalent to the standard STTS safety mat, but
with
the addition of a pressure-activated "on/off" switch sensor for areas
based
on force/area (psi). In the same manner as the standard mat, an
"intelligent
mat" provides a clear conception of the type of tangible event that is
occurring and is scalable because of its analog construction and
natural psi
characteristics. Although the "intelligent mat" is distinctive in that
it
can be programmed by varying the electrode pattern to establish where
the
contact has transpired on a multiple position basis (in width "x" and
length
"y"), and the basis of mass point loading ("z").
- Active Edging-
It is possible to place the mats side-to-side or end-to-end because of
this
standard feature of the STTS safety mat. The active coupler is slid in
place
which facilitates the active edging feature. Therefore, there are no
awkward mat installation difficulties with the STTS safety mat, as
there are
with the other types of mats. Also, the need for thresholds, close-out
and
uniting strips that create dead zones is eliminated, which is
advantageous
because both installation time and money are saved.
- Customized Safety Mat Inlays-
Machine areas such as the back of press brakes, machinery
manufacturing
sections, decks, runways, and robotic areas are protected with the STTS
safety mat system. In addition, the STTS safety mat system can be
specially
fabricated to allow for a precise fit for hard to protect areas, many
times
with only one mat. It is also excellent for original equipment
manufacturer
(OEM) applications.

The STTS safety mat system supplies superior sensitivity and uniform

Force style mats do not offer that protection because they normally use
insulators within their switching component as standoffs and around the
edges of the mats as seals. These standoffs or insulators cause dead
zones
and require a large amount of force to activate the mat.
